Umut, a strange young man who was born mute but not deaf, lives with his mother Leyla in a poor neighborhood of Istanbul. Recently feeling that there’s something odd going on with Leyla, Umut starts to follow her secretly and finds out that she meets with a man who is a total stranger. When the truth about this man’s identity is revealed, Umut’s world turns upside down. Coming with an unexpected twist, the second part of the film tells the story of another Umut pursuing another Leyla…

Director BARIŞ HANCIOĞULLARI

Born in İzmir, in 1979, Barış Hancıoğulları studied filmmaking at İstanbul Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts between 2003 and 2007. After his graduation, he worked on several feature films as assistant director and wrote and directed three short films and two music videos. He also worked as a professional musician between 1999 and 2009. His first feature-length film “Leyla Once Again” won the best promising actor award at the 2020 Adana Golden Boll Film Festival and competed in the 2021 İstanbul Film Festival.
