Basri is a railway warden whose job demands that he walks 18 km a day along the rail tracks. If he comes across anything untoward on the tracks, he reports it to the railways department. This is the sum of the job he has been doing for years. But Basri’s real concern is to find his missing son. As a university student, the young man ‘disappeared’ in police custody 18 years ago. And five years after his son went missing, Basri lost his wife. Although knowing where his wife’s grave is provides some comfort, he still has no idea of the whereabouts of his son. So on the first and 15th day of every month for the last 18 years, Basri has written to the state, appealing to the authorities to find his son. As he continues steadfastly with his job, so he never gives up on finding his son. Winner of the Best First Feature Film Award at the 69th Venice Film Festival in 2012.
