SYNOPSIS
Sumru is doing research on music at a university in Istanbul. To work on her thesis on gathering and recording an exhaustive collection of Anatolian elegies she sets off for the southeast of the country for a few months. The brief trip turns out to be the longest journey of her life. During her three-month stay in Diyarbakır while she was looking for the stories of the elegies, she finds herself having to confront an agony from her own past which she has buried until now.

Director ÖZCAN ALPER

Özcan Alper was born in Hopa, Artvin in 1975. He initially studied physics at Istanbul University and later changed his field to history of science at the same university. He also studied and worked on filmmaking. In 2000 he started assisting in films with director Yeşim Ustaoğlu. He directed a short film, Momi, and received many awards; it was the short film ever to be shot in Hemşin language. He also shot two documentaries, “Tokai City'de Melankoli ve Rapsodi in Japan” and “Bir Bilimadamıyla Zaman Enleminde Yolculuk”. In 2008 he released his first feature film Autumn (Sonbahar, 2008), receiving numerous national and international awards. He is one of the five directors of the feature film Tales from Kars (Kars Öyküleri, 2010). Future Lasts Forever (Gelecek Uzun Sürer) is director’s latest film.
