The idea of the film “Karsardahan” was shaped in Ardahan Province of Turkey in 2003 on a snowy winter day. Film’s story is inspired by the vast and unique habitats of the northeast Anatolia and the film came into life in 2005 by the support of Small Investments Fund of UNDP and BTC Co. The film was completed in 2007.

Kars-Ardahan Plateau serves as of one of the untouched habitats of Turkey with its wide plains, rivers and wildlife species such as wolf and fox. Its wetlands, lakes and pine forests help enrich its fauna and especially endemic flora. The documentary is pointing at the interaction of wildlife and local communities, destruction of habitats in recent years, threats to the wildlife and importance of sustainable environmental management.
