Director ATIF YILMAZ

Atif Yilmaz was born in 1926 in Mersin. He studied Law and Fine Arts in Istanbul University. After working as a film critic, scriptwriter and assistant director, he made his first film The Bloody Cry (Kanli Feryat) in 1951. He directed 114 films over a period of 50 years. He won national and international awards and his films were screened in retrospectives in various international festivals. Turkish cinema lost its legendary filmmaker in May 2006 as he passed away at the age of 80, leaving behind unforgettable films. Boston Turkish Film Festival pays tribute...
