Cagan
Irmak was born in 1970 in Seferihisar, Izmir. He graduated in
1992 from the Ege University Faculty of Communications with a
degree on television. He received the prestigious "Sedat
Simavi Awards" with two short films "Masal" (The
Tale) and "Kurban" (The Sacrifice) which he
filmed while he was still a student. Beginning in 1992, he
worked in cinema as assistant to many well-known directors, such
as Orhan Oguz, Mahinur Ergin, Filiz Kaynak, Yusuf Kurcenli. He
was awarded first prize by IFSAK for "Bana Old and Wise'i
Cal" (Play me Old and Wise), which he also wrote. In 1999
he wrote and directed two TV projects, Gunaydin Istanbul
Kardes (Good Morning Brother Istanbul) and Cilekli Pasta
(Strawberry Cake). In the same time period, he also starts
directing the popular TV series, "Sasifelek Cikmazi"
and he writes the screenplay for another TV film, "Bir Ask
Hikayesi" (A Love Story). He wrote and directed his first
feature film, "Bana Sans Dile" (Wish Me Luck) in 2001.
Finally, he worked as the director of a very popular TV series
"Asmali Konak" which brought him around 20 awards. He
also wrote to screenplays, "Karanlikta Biri Var" and
"Pencereden Kar Geliyor", both of which have been made
into films. Irmak took part as an actor in the 2000 production,
"Beni Unutma". Cagan Irmak's 2004 film
"Mustafa Hakkinda Hersey" (All About Mustafa) was
screened in the 5th Boston Turkish Film Festival in 2006.
